I am a flight student currently continuing my training toward a position with an airline (with luck). I have heared disscusion related to pilot height requirements and have grown a little nervous. My medical certificate lists my height as 67 inches, and I am wondering if this could be an issue. Anyone have any experience with this topic? unsure.gif

Height of 67 inches is not an issue for the airlines. There are many airline pilots shorter than you! I dont think there are any airlines that have a minimum height requirement anymore, those days are over. The military may be a little different. I know the military did have a minimum height requirement but not sure what they are or if they are still an effect.

Welcome to our message board and best wishes!

Being 5'7" isn't going to be a problem for you. I've had a couple female F/Os who were probably around 5'2" or 5'3", and they do just fine. I do know that my airline still has a minimum (and a maximum) height requirement for our flight attendants. I guess that has to do with putting stuff in the overheads.

What about a maximum size requirement. Im currently playing College football which puts me at about 6'4" 235. Probably a rediculous question, but curious. Thanks for not making too much fun of me!

Height not really a problem for getting hired. However it may make some smaller airplanes a little uncomfortable on long trips! tongue.gif

To the best of my knowledge, the military requirements are Minimum of 5'3" and a Max of 6'7".. but as it has been stated on the board here, I know of no similar restrictions for civil aviation.

Dont worry about it. You'll be fine. biggrin.gif

I am 6'10" and about to start my flight training with the long term goal of working for a major. Is there anyone who can give me an idea of the limitations I will face (if any) as a result of being so tall? Will this limit me on career opportunities in terms of the equipment that I can operate?
