I have a few questions for anyone that has some insight into US Airways. Anyone know where the E190's are based for US Airways? Also is the starting pay the same regardless of aircraft? What is first year hourly pay rate? Any idea what health care costs for a pilot+family are? Thanks for your time!

E-190s are based in PHL and CLT. First year pay is actually higher than the other aircraft. 41.00/hr or 3000/month which ever is higher. Other aircraft are 3000.00/month only. Second year pay on the E-190 is 44/hr. Second year for other aircraft is 57.00/hr.
Usair has multiple health care plans. you+family could expect to pay 100-150/month. Pretty good insurance.
The union and company are working on a new contract, when that is complete (6mos-1yr) pay rates will be better and all furloughees should be back on property. Currently we have 88 pilots on furlough and we will have about 250 when the furloughs complete, around mach 2009.

Mike,
I know it has been awhile since your post, sorry for the delay. US Airways furloughed the last few pilots May 2009. There are 227 pilots on furlough as of now(June2009). No word on re-calls. It will be awhile before anyone comes back, they are still in contract negotiations. The union and the company are far apart on most contract sections. They do have a mediator, with talks scheduled monthly thru the rest of the year.
I am not planning on being back on the property for at least 2 years, if not more.
In the next three to ten years there are going to be plenty of retirements( average age of the east pilots is 56), so US Airways will have to hire, but how much and when is anyone's guess.
