Do any of the Regional Airlines still have "flow through"'s to Major Airlines? Is this a desireable route for someone who ultimately would like to be at a Major? Do you have to be at a Regional for an eon? With the current demand for pilots is it better to get your time at a Regional then apply on your own?

--Thanks for the input.

Mesaba & Compass have flow throughs w/NWA. If NWA is around in a few years it might work out well if not then you'd be better off applying directly. Who knows its all a crap shoot, I wouldn't base where I went on a flow through. QOL, Pay, Location are the things I looked at. Those are all personal. Also can you see your self being stuck there in a down turn?

Agree with everything elduderino said, plus if there is a flow through program, there is usually a flowback program, meaning if the major furloughs, their pilots can slide back into captain slots at the regional...

As a Eagle Pilot, with flow through experience, I would NOT go to an airline on the promise of flow through. When I got to Eagle we had 8 years left on the agreement. 125 pilots went to American, and 350 AA guys came BACK! Now the agreement is over and I have NO CHANCE flow through. Even the guys that are next to go won't until AA gets all their pilots off furlough first!

Go with the quick upgrade and deal with a crappy schedule for a year or two. Then get the **** out!

who do you suggest? i wanted to see if i can get on at ASA, but i guess they quit taking on new pilots. eagle is the next "dream start" job...if you can call it that. since they dont have a flow through anymore...unless that changed...with american, i was going to stay on for about 3-5 years, then move on to delta or alaska (alaska would be perfect since i live in seattle)

i wonder if pinnacle is a good company to work for? i just want to be somewhere where i'm not going to get pushed into doing something that's illegal, unsafe, or something like that. the horror stories that i heard about mesa scare the **** outta me!

Knowing someone doesn't help-a few got hired because of being related-mother-father-daughter-brother-cousin. HR is selecting the new hires and ignoring recommendations from the rank and file. Heard there is many PO'd pilots right now.
