Asking all seasoned pilots.........
I will be attending flight training soon after retiring from the U.S. Army. What is all the bad talk about GoJet amongst the regional forums?
I was wondering if the larger companies, above the regionals (JetBlue, SouthWest, AA etc) really frown on GoJet pilots applying to their airlines after working for regionals for a while?
Is it true most bigger airlines won't take GoJet pilots? I see in the regional forums that GoJet airlines are "bottom feeders" or "Scabs". Is this true that if I decide to fly for GoJet, I will have a slim chance to get hired by the bigger airlines later or it doesn't really matter WHERE you get your experience as a new pilot?
Is it true that GoJet regional only have CRJ700 planes? If hired, do they start training you on their planes upon getting hired, the CRJ 700?
I have a wife and young son, just trying to make the right decision and doing my homework before I choose which airlines will be the best for me and my family life.

There are guys leaving in MASS Qnt's to the majors every month. From everyone to Southwest, Cathay Pacific, Skybus, Delta, Dayjet, Furloughes back to AA, and the list goes on and on.
The folks that are telling you otherwise on these web boards are just mislead and or just plain jealous.
The companies hiring seemed to be impressed with the interviewies and have never said anything bad about GoJet. Most "frankly" are not familliar with GoJet and do not even care anyway according to the interviewes. Most company just keep asking the same old questions: So,.. I see you have 1000 hrs of PIC. Tell me about a time.......
The majors don't seem to hold grudges like the regional pilots do.
All and all it is still a great place to work. Imagine that ?!

Are you kidding? Sure the major guys mostly have no clue what is going on with the regionals, nor do they care too much. But have you talked with a usair pilot lately? What about an old twa guy? What about the dl/nwa merger? Do you think if dl gets its way and the nw pilots get the shaft that they will just forgive and forget?

I think jetjrdriver lives in party hat land where everyone has lolly pops and they sing songs under rainbows...

Nothing. However, 'some people' think that 'major' airline pilots do not hold grudges. He is incorrect, I was just giving a few examples of that. If you are the type of person who will step on someone, or kick someone while they are down just to get ahead, then its time to reevaluate. Perhaps those people should go to law school or go get their mba's. This is a small industry and we need to remember that we are all in it together.

The fact that even kids in flightschool have heard bad things about a certain company should be a red flag. Then add to that fact that people who are IN the industry already, warn people not to go to that company. That should be very obvious. But like the 3 year old that has been warned by both his parents not to touch the burning hot stove, sometimes, the child just needs to figure it out for itself. Just don't be suprised by the result.
