I just got a call from American Eagle informing me that all Jet Transition Courses AND classes in Dallas have been cancelled...indefinately. I got hired over a month and a half ago and have been waiting for a class date....only to be told that there aren't any. I tried to get a timeframe and was told that I would be contacted when they resumed. I also asked the caller to give me an honest answer and opinion as to weather to wait it out or to start applying again. I was told that I needed to do whats best for me.

I asked if all of those (5) hired with me were also S.O.L. and was told that anyone who is not currently in a class has been cancelled and put on the back burner. Well..........I guess its back to the drawing board.

Sorry to hear about that. The economy is in a recession right now. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. A friend of mine knows someone on the board at American and told me they are getting ready to furlough tons of pilots. With that happening, those pilots go into the Eagle slots and put a block on everyone else getting trained. The last time American furloughed, it was for a long time. Im gonna apply a few other places but will give it a few weeks to take effect and get a better understanding of the severity:)

I would not hold your breath. I work at Eagle. We are over staffed by about 100 or so FO's. I don't see and hiring for at least 6 more months. Also when you do get here, upgrade to ANY captain spot will be AT LEAST 9 years!

If you want to make Eagle a career, its not a bad place. We have good work rules and the pay is not that bad. However, if you just want to build some PIC time to move to better and bigger $$$ things, I would not recommend it!
