Does anyone have any info on Frontier?
Good or bad. How are they financially? Have they laid off pilots? Do the pilots enjoy working there? How's the relationship between pilots and mgmt?
Union info? Upgrade time?
Any other info too.

I think Frontier's a pretty good company. I have an uncle and lots of friends who work there, and not necessarily all pilots - each and every one of them absolutely loves working there. If you ever get the chance, I'd fly them. Their customer service is head and shoulders above their Denver competition, and the fact that everyone really enjoys working there is evident in their attitudes. They're first on my list.

They haven't laid off pilots per se, but they did keep some in the pool versus furloughing when 9/11 hit. They have a pretty good relationship between management and pilots, but they do have their own union, called FAPA.

Near-term upgrades will be seen mostly in existing pilots since they plan to hire 80 in the next 6 months. After that, I have no idea but it could be a few years.

Financially, they're doing everything right and have a conservative, realistic growth plan. This quarter, they posted a $2.7m loss which is better than last year's second quarter loss of $6.6m. Not bad considering UAL hemmorhaged $1.43 BILLION this quarter... ohmy.gif

Does anyone on this board work for Frontier? If so, am I totally off base or can you shed a little light on all this? TIA

I was just hired at Frontier. It is a great company. They really pride themselves on their sense of family and community. I feel strongly that it is a team at Frontier. I witnessed it as I traveled to Denver. This company has very loyal employees and very loyal customers.

If you want to be at a place where you can really help influence the profitability and the course of the airline, absolutely think Frontier. My interviewers included FO's who would soon be captains. They were there to help choose their FO's. This is the kind of relationship managment has with pilots there. I felt 100% confident in the company.

Why do they need pilots? 2-3 A320's in 2007. They are growing. I like also that they grow within themselves. Their rate is sustainable. They also have a new subsidiary flying a tremendously efficient and quiet turboprop. They are adding new routes with some international flavor, too. This is a "cherry on top". Work at Frontier because its a good place with really good people. Good Luck!
