FAA ATP to JAA ATPL

I am currently flying cargo for a U.S. 121 air carrier as Captain of an ATR 72. I've been thinking of going oversees to fly and wondering if having a JAA would be highly beneficial and worth the time and cost of getting it. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I spend the money to get the JAA certificates?
