I work as a pilot for Ram Air Freight in North Carolina. I have been with the company two and a half years. Two weeks ago an e-mail from management was sent to all of the pilots saying that all employees would have to take a massive pay cut. They say that this needs to be done in order to keep the company profitable. If this does not work, I would imagine the next step will be to close the doors. We have a relatively small pilot group of 22 people. Two have already been furloughed.

Most of our flying involves transporting bank checks all over the Southeast. Quite a few banks have chosen to have their work driven instead of flown. It is a lot cheaper that way. A few banks have decided to have their checks sent electronically, but not many have done this. It is even more expensive than flying to send them electronically.

I just thought that I would share this in case anyone was interested in what is going on at Ram Air.
