I understand the concept of being a contract pilot and not being a salary pilot. Is there anyone out there that can comment on being a contact FO for a company? What is good pay? How did you take the risk of no fly no pay?

It was great work, and excellent pay back in 2007. This year during our downturn, it sucks. I am getting very few calls, and the ones I do get are out of state and the employer won't pay for travel and opt for a local contract pilot. I am typed in the Citation CE 500 series and the Pilatus, but these are very common (and least expensive) ratings so there are plenty of contract pilots. There is a high demand for Gulfstream and Challenger pilots, but $50,000 to buy a rating is WAY to expensive. I created a site to help me and some friends that are contract pilots. WWW.CALIAIRCREW.COM caters to contract pilots and is completely free to use, sign up, and post your resume and experience.
