Just wanted to get some opinions and any comments would be appreciated. I'm currently an FO at Skywest and was one of the last classes to be hired so I have been on reserve for 2.5 years. In general, it appears that not many people leave skywest especially with the way hiring has been going on with the majors. I'm thankful for my job but it does seem like there may not be some movement for awhile. I was fortunate enough to get hired on at Omni and was just wondering what people thought of Omni compared to Skywest? Bigger planes really don't impress me and I would only be making a little bit more at Omni so that factor is a bit of a wash. Its more about quality of life, work rules, etc.? Basiclly just wondering what you would do if you were if my shoes? Thanks.

Depends on what you want for the next few years of your career. Are you single or married with a family? Are you currently based at home or do you commute? Quality of life is dependent on the answer to these questions. You will be gone away from home, usually out of the country quite a bit with Omni. Work rules are probably not nearly as good at Omni as what you have at Skywest and FAA rules for supplemental carriers are quite a bit more lax then scheduled domestic. On the other hand if you want to see the world, don't mind being away from home and learn more about flying and cultures than you could ever dream possible, then Omni would be an excellent choice.

Ability to upgrade to the left seat and gain valuable Turbine PIC time should be your foremost consideration although probably very difficult to determine which avenue would lead you there quicker at the moment.

You might also consider the benefits you currently enjoy and would probably not have at Omni. In summary there are a lot of factors to consider and hopefully your crystal ball works better than mine! Best wishes in whichever path you decide to take and please keep us updated on how things turn out! Did you add your pilot interview experience with Omni to our website yet? ;)

Thanks for the response and the various things to consider. I have not interviewed yet but will be shortly and will be sure to add my experience to the website. Thanks again.
