Hello Counselor and Others...
I left a Regional Airline almost three years ago for a medical condition...basically I was told that I could no longer hold my medical certificate. To be honest with you, I thought that the condition was going to permanent block to me ever holding a 1st Class again.
As it turned out, the condition has been corrected I do stand a fairly good chance of getting my Medical back...I am corresponding with the FAA right now.
I have 3200 hours...About 2800 in the CRJ (SIC). I am in my mid 40's and understand that I am probably not going to be a CA on a 747...but I do feel that aviation is where my home is. I would like to come back but not real sure what my likelyhood would be in getting hired again by another Regional after being out of the loop for 3 years. Any help that you or the other members of the Forum could offer would greatly be appreciated!

Hi,

I think you will be in a great position to get back in to the regionals. If you went out on medical did you quit or are you on medical leave? Can you go back and keep your seniority? If not I would suggest trying to go with a regional that will upgrade quickly do some research and talk to friends. Unfortunately it is a bit of a crap shoot these days. It is such a dynamic industry especially now. Continental Express was rumored to be laying off and now they are supposedly scrambling to hire. Again this all may be rumors but you need to do your homework and pick a regional that you will be happy with and can get those needed PIC hours. As for being a captain of a 747, you never know! Good luck.
