I am very close to releasing my application for viewing from the regionals as they are my career goal. I have 2,900TT PIC, 100 multi PIC, CFII, ATP121 written, 1st class medical, FCC license, passport, transcripts and DMV records. My question is: what are or where can I find the minimum recent flight hours (as I'm employed but not in aviation so I'm paying my own currency costs) and are internal recommendations an unwritten requirement? Am I foolish to pursue a career without one? Thank you very much for your time.

The best place to find the recent flight hours in my view would be to look at the Pilot Interviews page on the home page of WFFF. You can see what others have had when they interviewed. You can also check out each companies hiring page. Republic for instance is requiring 2000TT, 500MEL, 100 instrument. You can check around and get an idea. I would also point out that these are not set in stone. Most companies in the past raised and lowered minimums based on supply of adequate candidates. I would submit it regardless and keep updating as you gain more time.

Your second question regarding an internal recommendation is a good one. It is always good o have an internal letter but again not required. Keep in mind that internal recommendations are weighed based on the person making the recommendation. Unless the person has good credibility it may actual hurt you to be associated with a troubled employee.

My suggestion is to keep submit your stuff early and often. You never know trying updating your info every month or so if you have made significant addition to your hours. If you haven’t made any changes update every two months so as not to appear a pest.

Good luck,

A
