Hello all,
I am looking for some advise and a push in the right direction. I am currently flying multi engine turbo prop(less than 20,000lbs though) as SIC for a 135. I can upgrade in a year or so and log PIC. The question is should i stay here and upgrade and log the 135 PIC multi turbine time then go to a regional. Or get in right away with a 121 regional start climbing the ladder and grab a number. Long term goal major airline pilot.
Thanks in advance.

I found myself in that same position a few years ago. The difference for me being that I am flying 121 turbo prop over 20,000 lbs, though only flying 300 hours a year. I got upgraded to PIC right as the economy fell apart in 2008 and have just now logged 1000 PIC turbine (turbo prop). All of my friends in the right seat at regional airlines were logging 900 hours a year for the past 3 years and have logged 3 times the flight time. They are now getting upgraded and in a little over a year will have 3 times the flight time and have the 1000 PIC turbine.
I now have my ATP with 4000 total time, 1000 PIC turbine, 2200 multi, 800 night, and about 600 IMC. I've run into the problem everywhere that I have applied that jet operators want jet pilots and not slow prop drivers.
I think there are big changes coming in aviation with new regulations, lots of pilots retiring, and the economy eventually improving. Those three things could mean big changes for hiring, and I am hoping it will mean that pilots will be in greater demand.
