Soon to be retired from Military with 3000+ hours of heavy time (lots of PIC and Instructor hrs), but haven't flown since 08. What is the best way to get my currency and foot in the door? Are Regional Jets an option? Majors? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to have you back in the aviation world. Since you haven’t been in aviation in quite some time I think you should try and get whatever you can. You are competing with a lot pilots for a few select jobs. That will change in the next two years, but right now the competition is still quite tough. I would suggest if possible a job that gets you back up to speed quickly and helps you build time. I would suggest a 121 regional. You will fly 75-95 hours a month depending on where you go and you will get back in shape quickly. Once you have some currency under your belt you can then start shopping yourself around. Good luck.
