I got called by FlexJet a week after sending them my resume. They flew me out to DFW on their dime and put me up at the Idearc Hotel, complete with breakfast. The next day, myself and two other applicants (one turbo prop freight dog and one retired Continental Capt.) met with Karen Parr and the Chief Pilot (Hand-shoe) at 8am. We were briefed on the company and benefits as well as what to expect for the day. The director of training (Rich)came in and took myself and the retired CO Capt over to the Lear 60xr sim for the eval. The frieght dog interviewed with the C.P. I got to go first in the sim (lucky me). It was the same profile as stated in previous submittals. I found the sim to be pretty squirelly and did not keep my profile within ATP standards (I have not Lear time), however, my V1 cut went well. Then it was the Capt's turn, he did better until the V1 cut and then he augered it in. After this, he went to his one on one with the Chief and I got to do the Pee-Pee test while the other guy suffered in the sim. Finally, when it was my time to meet with the C.P., Karen escorted me into the conference room and he said, "So, the sim didn't go so well, huh?" I confessed that I had performed better in the past and he said, "well, no sense in wasting time, we will just discontinue the process here so you can catch a flight back". He was very cordial, and I did not feel that I deserved the job. So, the three of us met downstairs to catch our respective flights back home and we are debriefing one another and the freight dog says that they would let him know later (he stated his sim flight was a 'goat rope') and Captain 'Fireball' says, "they offerred me the 300". I was in shock! Let's see, I did not perform to PTS standards and you killed everyone, including people in 3 different hangers! At this point, I internally become less understanding about not getting some 'face time' with the C.P. If you take the time to fly someone out there, take the time and courtesy to speak with them, at least that is how I felt.
Anyway, I still think they would be a good outfit to fly for, good pay and benefits and the backing of Bombardier. Everyone seemed nice and they are hiring quite a bit for the forseeable future. So good luck and try and crash during your V1 cut, your a 'Shoe-in'!

The previous gouges are still good however there are a couple of things that I can add. The flight was a departure from 13 L DAL with climbs turns and decents. They make a concession for never have flown the sim and will help you with whatever question you have. They will not let the PF ask the PNF to adjust power for them. Hold at TTT. Holding radials are always different but you will most likely be south of the VOR. ILS to landing followed by a V1 cut. All of this raw data. In our interview group we were paired up with each other to be PF and PNF. I let my partner go first in which turned out good because I got to watch it all first and take mental notes when I could. I was also getting to fly while he briefed holds and approaches. Second part is the writen. Most of all the questions are right. If you look at aviationinterviews.com there is a list of some questions and between both websites you can get most of them. A couple of things to add. MSA from CVE on the 270 radial of ILS 13L DAL? MSA - is it AGL or MSL TDZE at DAL ILS 13L TDZE at DAL ILS 13L is it MSL or AGL MU is a greek letter Climb graidient on the second segment = 2.4 % second segment begins where and ends at= gear retraced & 400ft Very easy test. The last part was the interview and it was very casual. Rick (chief pilot) seemed to create an atmosphere in which you felt comfortable and relaxed. Hiring is projected to continue but with class dates after the beginning of the year. Good luck. Best advice is to be yourself and they will recognize that.

Pilot Interview Profile:
My experience started with a 30 minute phone interview where they explained
a lot about the company, and basically wanted to see if I was interested in
it. Basic backround questions where asked FAA violations, driving history,
criminal history, failed checkrides etc. If you have one or two of these in
your past just be honest you will probably still get the interview anyway.
They arrange to airline you to Dallas for the interview (at their expense).
When you get to Dallas it is a 3 part interview. Sim eval in a lear
simulator, 30 question written test, and interview.
I started with the simulator. Very laid back they walk you through
everything. Normal takeoff to 2000 feet, you will be cleared to a vor and
given instructions to hold. Be sure to brief the hold to your nfp, and see
if they agree with what you are doing, they are looking for good crm. After
that you do a raw data ils to a full stop. Then they reposition you for
takeoff and you get a v1 cut, just call for the gear up and climb to 1500
feet. Be sure to use full rudder on the v1 cut, and they will explain all
of this to you before you get in the simulator. No tricks, I have no prior
jet experience and I did fine.
Next is the 30 question multiple choice test. This was a bit tricky since I
was a bit rusty on Part 91 regs. Review atp written, far's, and aim. The
questions I remember are:
-At end of metar is altimeter setting in inches of mercury or milibars
-define 2nd segment of climb
-convert a climb gradient % to feet per minute
-light gun signals, what does flashing green meen
-part 91 pressurization, above what alt must 1 pilot use o2 with 2 pilots
seated?
-definition of class a airspace
-obove what alt do you need dme
-max speed below floor of class b
-what do you do if intercepted, ans involves rocking wings, look this up
-runway centerline light question red and white 3000-1000 feet red 1000 to
end
-flying through t-storm. Straight ahead maintain constant attitude
-wake turbulence question
-what is stopway used to calculate? accelerate stop distance
-ifr fuel requirements
-what type of approach lights are used for a runway? Just read it right off
the approach plate.
The last part was an interview. I interviewed with 2 pilots, very laid
back, no technical questions. Some situation questions mostly common sense
stuff, why do you want to work at flexjet etc. They make you feel very
comfortable, and have a very nice facility. Study up you will do great.
